What Not To Wear Season 10, Episode 5 - Kathy A. Fashion Review

Stacy- Host
I can't talk about What Not To Wear style without talking about the hosts/stylists. That bright purple is amazing on her and is nicely belted the waist. Love that poppy red manicure. Not sure if the turquoise earrings or two tone shoes really go, but they're great on their own.

Purple Halter Dress from Rebecca Taylor               Black Studded Belt from J. Crew

Black/Gold Stretch Bracelet from RJ        Turquoise/Gold Drop Earrings from Stephen Dweck
 Graziano/Bloomingdale's
and Blue/Gold Cuff from Sorelli

Black/White Sandals from Elizabeth and James

The red in this dress seems to bring out the redness in her skin which is unflattering, as is the waist of this dress which makes her look thicker than she is. The band should go all the way around the dress. I do love the texture of the dress especially mixed with the snake print on the shoes. I don't like bracelets on both wrists cuz it tends to go into Wonder Woman territory, but at least they aren't thick bangles. Her hair needs to be up with this dress cuz it's adding to her width. The makeup is a bit ruddy and need sto even out her skin more. Those grey toenails are amazing as are her gold nails. Check out those amazing purple cap toe & multi colored pumps in the background. Love!

Maroon Dress from Rolando Santana                    Snake Peep-Toe Pumps from Nicholas Kirkwood

Asymmetrical Silver Cuff from Alexis Bittar, Diamond Bracelet
from Ben-Amun, Silver Pyramid Bracelet from Giles & Brother
and Crystal/Pave Ring from Shop Jeen

This outfit is so feminine for her. They made that shade of pink work on her by pairing the same shade of blush on her cheeks. Love that side pony. That jacket comes in perfectly at the waist at the same place the seam on dress does.

White Jacket from Zara and Pink/White Watercolor    Ladybug Earrings from J Crew
Dress from Alice & Olivia
I love lady bugs. So cute!

Chain Necklace with Pink/Orange Gems        Seashell Ring from Bounkit and Crystal/Pave Ring from Shop Jeen
from Ann Taylor and Bronze Chain Necklace
 fromGerard Yosca
Those 2 different necklaces look amazing together.
I like the crystal pave ring, and the turquoise one pops nicely against those shades of coral.

Black/White Sandals from Elizabeth and James
The 2 tone sandals work much better with this outfit then the purple dress from earlier.

Is that a polka dot dress she's wearing? Cute, but seems a bit too sweet for her; the princess seam on here is widening her midsection. That thick black band at the bottom should be in the middle instead.

Black/White Dress from Diane Von Furstenburg      Silver Cuff from Alexis Bittar
Now you can see in the close up that those are studs & not dots. Completely perfect for her, and that cuff is fierce. I have a similar one. I also love those metallic nails. That super saturated tone is so luxe.

Grey Drop Earrings from Alexis Bittar       vory Peep Toe Pumps from Giuseppe Zanotti
The earrings would work better if they were simple drop earrings without that ornate detailing. The nude shoes need to be a different shade of nude in order to blend with her skin tone, or they should be white, black, or silver to match the dress.

Clinton

Clinton looks absolutely dandy in his navy suit, plaid shirt, & matching pocket square with some pink mixed in.

Kathy Before

This lady has that plain pretty thing going. I see the potential in her. She has a great smile and is in great shape. The problem is she's wearing shapeless clothing that doesn't work for her figure. This lady not only doesn't dress well for her figure, she doesn't dress to fit who she is. This woman is a successful doctor. She looks like a sister wife.

Rules

Casual outfit: This is great for her. Flats don't have to look like orthopedic or athletic wear. I love the olive green & coral combo. Coral is a universally flattering color BTW. She's thin enough to pull of skinny pants. That jacket is super cute, and she could still pair it with something for work.

Purple Cardigan, Grey Trouser, Taupe and Blue
Rhinestone Bracelets from Ann Taylor; Pink Print
 Top French Connection/Macy’s,Green Handbag
from Riki Rosetta, Snake Print Pumps from Nine
West/Zappos, Yellow Bracelet from AV Max; Gold
Necklace and Black Rock Necklace from Eva
 Hanusova
Work outfit: I like the overall look here for her. She's on her feet a lot so a cute pair of flats is a must. The trousers are a good basic to have in a flattering & appropriate straight leg. That purple color will really pop on her. I love the updated doctor bag. I'm not crazy about that print, but I understand it for her because it looks like something you'd see when you look under a microscope.

Kathy Reveal Day

Purple Top, Floral Pattern Gray Skirt and Gold Clear     Green Top from Ann Taylor Ball Pendant Necklace from Kenneth
Stone Bracelet from Banana Republic; Black Beaded   Cole/Nordstrom,Multi-Color Cardigan from Tabitha/Anthropologie
Heels from Marinelli/DSW and Blue Bead Earrings       and Pin Stripe Pant from Banana Republic
 from Anthropologie
Kathy looks like Jayma Mays now. She's in amazing shape, and these looks actually show off the fact that she takes care of herself. Night look: Normally a high neck is a no no for someone with a large bust like her, but it works here because of that keyhole. That color is beautiful with her skin, and her new hair color (a rich auburn). Work outfit: Again the colors are amazing for her skin & hair. These pieces can also work with other outfits and other situations. That top & cardi can go with jeans or a skirt. This top looked better when they show her with it tucked in. It's a bit too long to leave it untucked with a straight leg pair of pants. Her makeup: She doesn't look overly made up; her skin looks even, and I really see her cheek bones now. Lovely! This woman does not look 40.

  1. I found your blog when trying to find out who made that chevron patterned cardigan (the episode was rebroadcast yesterday). So disappointed that it's no longer on Anthropologie's website! Bookmarked your blog. I agree with all of your assessments!
