Christian Halloween Movies, Mini-Series, TV (Yes they Exist)

Some people do not like horror movies. Sometimes it's due to it to religious beliefs. Sometimes people, like my husband, do not like anything dark, disturbing or scary.

I decided to include alternatives for your standard horror film so whether you celebrate Halloween, All Saints Day, or Harvest Festival Alternatives, you can have something to watch that won't give you nightmares.

And yeah some of these movies are Christian (not all), but I made sure that they are well-produced and well-acted. I don't feel like it's my place to put other faith's movies in a list since I'm not part of that faith so if you have any movies you'd like to include of your faith, feel free to leave a comment below. Or if you have Halloween Movie recommendations that I might've forgotten.

Also be sure to check out some other Halloween lists you may also like: I do these lists every Sept/Oct

October 2015 Month of Horror Movies

Seasonal Movie List: Fall/Autumn

Just Watch is a great site where you can look up where to watch all these great movies (all legal)

Non Scary Adult

These can also work for families

The Haunted History of Halloween-I always enjoy these History channel holiday documentaries

Meet Me in St. Louis-Halloween-New Yr's is covered in this movie (kid's who like musicals or recognize Judy Garland as Dorothy might also like this).

To Kill A Mocking Bird-Still has relevance to this day (read the book too) & takes place around Halloween. Elements of morality & Christianity that non-Christians will also like because it's not the main focus of the movie and it mostly used as Character development.

Ghost Whisperer: 5 seasons of the tame but lovely hit series about a young woman named Melinda who each episode helps ghosts with unfinished business cross-over "into the light". Doesn't explain what that is exactly but gets you to think about the after life and has great lessons about forgiveness & helping others while giving you a one-hour mystery that you can watch with your grandma and still like yourself.

I Am LEgend: a zombie movie that's not too scary.

Scary flicks with religious twist
These are quite scary.

Image result for The OmenImage result for The Exorcism of Emily Rose

The Exorcist: This movie scares the Hell outta me to this day. I still need to watch the Uncut Director's Edition

Rosemary's Baby: Creepy & foreboding all without really any gore. My sister actually had this as her theme for her baby shower haha.

The Omen: The 2006 version isn't bad either and is certainly stylish. Whichever you choose, you'll think twice before deciding to have kids.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose: Part legal drama, part exorcism movie, all true story. Jennifer Carpenter has a fine debut performance in the type of role that has been immortalized into the annals of Hollywood history. Unique twist on a tell told often

Frailty: Yes you'll find this in the bargain bin at Walmart but this creepy tale of religious fanatasicm with a great twist. Yes that's Matthew McConaughey on the cover.

The Wicker Man: (1973): Skip the Nic Cage remake and opt for this creepy cult mystery horror.

Monster's Inc: Definitely one of my favorite of the Pixar universe.

Monsters University: I need to rewatch this since I fell asleep

Honestly haven't seen any of the above, but they have great reviews, big name actors, and nice production value. All four are all true stories.

All four of these are true stories as well. All of these movies have Christian characters that are ture to who they are without the film only being about that.

We Are Marshall: A coach brings a community together through football after a profound tragedy.

Remember the Titans: Denzel Washington was nominated for an Oscar for this movie about a football team during integration that's brought together by their coach.

The Blind Side: Sandra Bullock won an Oscar for her portrayal of a Southern woman who adopts a young black man and sees in him the potential to make a future for himself through football

The 5th Quarter: The death of a local high school football player prompts his brother to take his place on the team.

All Saints Day Movies Nov. 1.
Historically speaking, it has become primarily a day to honor Christian martyrs or “witnesses” who gave their lives peacefully to serve their Divine Savior, Jesus Christ. I also included films where faith played a role in heroism or overcoming tragedy.

The Bible: Watch the full mini-series or the edited feature film version

A.D. The Bible Continues: a continuation of The Bible Mini-Series/movie that is only available to watch as a mini-series.

Luther: I was raised Catholic but after years of research left the Catholic church and now attend a non-denominational church and have yet to see this movie because my pride's been in the way. I'm now at a place in my faith where I can give it a go. Great cast as well.

Unbroken: Though I've heard naysayers complain that the Christian elements aren't included, I loved this film and felt like they did well with what they could and they still managed not to delete faith out of the film, they just chose to follow one part of this man's journey more which sets up the sequel well. I have not seen the sequel (different lead & director) but this one helmed by Angelina Jolie is fantastic.

The 33 Poster

Amazing Grace: This is about the man that wrote the song. This is a little slice of history wrapped up with beautiful period costumes and acting by great British actors like Ioan Gruffand

Soul Surfer: true story about a young girl whose faith in God helped her to rise up and get
back on her board after a shark attack.

The 33: Faith and the amazing work of so many first responders & rescue workers help
free 33 men who get trapped in the mines in Chile
