Kiss of the Damned (2012) Writer & Director: Xan Cassavetes Stars: Joséphine de La BaumeMilo VentimigliaRoxane Mesquida, & Anna Mouglalis Plot: The vampire Djuna resists the advances of Paolo, but soon gives in to their passion. When her trouble-making sister unexpectedly comes to visit, Djuna's love is threatened, and the whole vampire community becomes endangered. Trailer Review: Inspired by 60's Vampire flicks, I'm very excited to see this one. I love anything with a retro vibe & I love vampires. We'll see. Rating: TBD. Watch with: any 1960's vampire movie

Love and Honor 2012 Director: Danny Mooney. Writer(s): Garrett K. SchiffJim Burnstein. Stars: Liam HemsworthAustin StowellAimee TeegardenTeresa Palmer.  Summer: 1969. Dalton Joiner (Stowell) is fighting for his country overseas when he learns that his girlfriend Jane has decided to move on. Heartbroken, Dalton decides to make the most of his week long leave of absence by returning home to try and sweep Jane (Teegarden) off her feet. Meanwhile, Dalton's thrill-seeking war buddy Mickey (Hemsworth) decides to tag along on the trip. Review: I'm taking a chance on this movie. I'm gonna really pissed (as a military wife) if these guys go AWOL. Rating: TBD. Watch with: Stop Loss.  Trailer

Ginger & Rosa (2012) Writer & Director: Sally Potter. Stars: Elle FanningAlice EnglertAnnette BeningOliver Platt Plot: A look at the lives of two teenage girls - inseparable friends Ginger and Rosa -- growing up in 1960s London as the Cuban Missile Crisis looms, and the pivotal event the comes to redefine their relationship. Trailer Review: I'm intrigued with that time period & how other parts of the world were affected by the CMC. It's also nice to see Christina Hendricks in a movie. I'm just wondering if this movie is gonna be melodramatic. Rating TBD. Watch with: TBD.

Twixt 2011 Writer & Director: Francis Ford Coppola Stars: Val KilmerBruce DernElle FanningBen Chaplin Plot: A writer with a declining career arrives in a small town as part of his book tour and gets caught up in a murder mystery involving a young girl Trailer Review: I love F.F. Coppola, Val Kilmer is a great actor who hasn't been getting the credit he deserves as of late, & I always love a good mystery. All ingredients will hopefully add up to a good flick. Rating: TBD. Watch with: TBD.

Hunky Dory 2011 Director: Marc Evans Writer:  Stars: Minnie DriverKristian GwilliamAdam ByardAled Pugh Plot: In the heat of the summer of 1976, drama teacher Vivienne fights sweltering heat and general teenage apathy to put on an end-of-term version of Shakespeare's The Tempest. Trailer Review: I'm really hoping Driver gets to sing at some point in this film. She has 2 albums out & is very talented. I also love Shakespeare. After seeing the Julie Taymor film version of The Tempest, I'm curious what a musical version of it would be like. Rating: TBD. Watch with: Hamlet 2  & Get Over It.

The Bling Ring Review

The Bling Ring (2013) Poster

The Bling Ring 2013 Director: Writers: The director &  based on her Vanity Fair article "The Suspect Wore Louboutins". Stars: , , . Plot: Cannes Film Festival nominated (Un Certain Regard Award) Crime Drama inspired by actual events. A group of fame-obsessed teenagers (Chang, Broussard, Watson, Tessa Farmiga) use the internet to track celebrities' whereabouts in order to rob their homes. Review: I was looking forward to this because, 1. It's an intriguing story & 2. It's friggin Sofia Coppola. Unfortunately, it didn't feel like it. This felt more like a TV Movie than it did a theatrical release by such an astounding talent like writer/director Coppola. Yes, that Coppola family. This movie didn't have the same psychological connection with the characters that her other movies have. She always seems to try to find the humanity in even the most villainous characters (Marie Antoinette anyone?) This movie seemed to judge the characters. In that judgement, it lost the heart that Coppola brings with her films. Yes, these girls in real life are hard to feel sorry for, but at least bring some depth to the story. Show more of the relationships with the parents. There were few & far between, short, & shallow. The film felt disjointed, too fast, & edited to pieces. There were a few beautiful camera shots & Watson was a standout, but other than that this movie was pretty forgettable. Rating: Stamped Out. Maybe watch it once on DVD. Watch instead: The Virgin Suicides or Marie Antoinette for some far superior Coppola.

42 2013 Writer & Director: Brian HelgelandStars: Chadwick Boseman, T.R. Knight, Harrison Ford, Nicole Beharie Plot: The life story of Jackie Robinson (Boseman) and his history-making signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers under the guidance of team executive Branch Rickey (Ford).  Trailer Review: I was privileged to be a part of this film. I play a racist baseball fan. You can see me in the stands to the right of Robinson at bat, then to the left of #13 Dodger Pitcher, Rt of umpire, & left of Montreal batter in that order lol in the Florida Montreal vs. Dodgers Exhibition Game-the first game Robinson played in a white pro baseball team. I was also in a scene that ended up on the cutting room floor- a Brooklyn NY street scene with Robinson & PeeWee. Now to the review, This was a highly enjoyable movie. The acting was great (Boseman & Ford being the stand outs) & it was inspirational & moving (I hoping there will be some nods come Awards season). Nominated already for 2 Golden Trailer awards. The trailer is epic. The film is terrific with a great cast, amazing attention detail for the time period, and some chilling moments. The only issue I have with the film is the pacing. Some scenes are so short, especially ones not on the baseball field, that by the time you become invested in the moment the scene changes. Maybe I will feel differently after a 2nd viewing cuz I was bit distracted when watching the first time. That's my only issue. Everything else was terrific. All of the cast & crew on set talked the whole time about us making history on that film set, being the only film about Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier other than a documentary with Jackie in the 50's. We did make history, & I felt that on set. I always give 100% to every project I'm in, and I've had some amazing wow moments on set. This set was full of those wow moments. I felt the importance of what it is we were doing & a responsibility by all to tell this story the right way. This movie did make history. It broke box office records for greatest baseball film opening night & opening weekend tallies if film history. The sndtrk is also great as well. Rating: Noteworthy. Watch with:  The Hurricane & Remember the Titans.

Pictures on the set of 42. Me & some other Middle GA actor friends of mine, a really terrific & talented group of ppl I had the pleasure of working with once again. On the right: Me in the cutting room floor scene.

Evil Dead 2013 Director: Fede Alvarez. Writers: director &  Rodo Sayagues based on the motion picture "The Evil Dead" by Sam Raimi. Stars: Jane LevyShiloh FernandezJessica LucasLou Taylor Pucci Plot: Five friends head to a remote cabin, where the discovery of a Book of the Dead leads them to unwittingly summon up demons living in the nearby woods. The evil presence possesses them until only one is left to fight for survival. Trailer Review: I'm happy to see a serious remake considering the original was supposed to be scary but ended up coming out funny. I also heard Diablo Cody contributed to the script, but she's not mentioned on IMDB only Blockbuster. She's an amazing writer. It looks really scary. Rating: TBD. Watch with: Evil Dead (81)-just cuz you should watch the original for comparison. I always suggest watching the new one first & the original second. You're more likely to get an enjoyable experience & Hellraiser.

"Orphan Black" S1  Creators:   Stars: Tatiana Maslany, Dylan Bruce, Jordan Gavaris, Kevin Hanchard Plot: A streetwise hustler (Maslany) witnesses the suicide of a girl who looks just like her and falls headlong into a deadly mystery. Trailer Review: I've watched the first couple of episodes, and so far I'm really enjoying this show. Maslany is terrific &  has to play a lot of different characters. I'm intrigued to find out what's happens next. Rating: so far "Noteworthy" Watch with: The Island & Oblivion.

"Damages" S5 Stars: Glenn Close, Rose Byrne, Zachary BoothRyan Phillippe. Plot: A law school graduate (Byrne) becomes the protégée of a successful high-stakes litigator (Close). This season: The man behind a controversial Internet site dedicated to government and business transparency gets sued when his latest information leak creates disastrous fallout, setting the stage for a decisive showdown between Patty (Close) and Ellen (Byrne). S5 Trailer Series Promo Review: Haven't watched this season yet, but I love this series. This is the final season. So excited. Plus there will finally be courtroom scenes lol. Rating: TBD. Watch with: TBD.

5 Shells 2012 Writer & Director Paul Myers Inspired by L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Stars:
Plot: Post-apocalyptic fantasy drama follows two sisters as they wander the wastelands with just one shotgun and five shells in the wake of a global financial meltdown. As the two desperate siblings make their way down the Yellow Brick Road, however, they encounter a series of challenges that will test their will to survive and soldier on. Trailer Review: I love unique interpretations of fairy tales. We'll see how this one plays out. Rating: TBD. Watch with: Malice in Wonderland & "Alice" mini series.

The Sweeter Side of Life (TV) 2013 Director: Michael DamianWriter(s): Janeen Damian & the director.

Stars:  Plot: The jilted wife (Morris) of a plastic surgeon () returns to her hometown in New Jersey to help her father (Best) revitalize his struggling bakery. As she adapts to her less-than-posh surroundings, she catches the eye of a wealthy and charming local (Mackenzie).

Trailer Review: Morris looks like she's had too much plastic surgery. I didn't recognize her. She looked like one of the "Real Housewives". I'm watching this cuz I like cooking movies. Rating: TBD. Watch with: TBD.
