Gangster Squad Stars: Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Giovanni Ribisi Plot: Los Angeles, 1949: A secret crew of police officers led by two determined sergeants (Gosling & Josh Brolin) work together in an effort to take down the ruthless mob king Mickey Cohen (Penn) who runs the city. Trailer Review: This looks like a throw back gangster flick with a slick, modern sheen. Curious if Emma Stone can play the femme fatale character. Always like Gosling. We will see. Rating: TBD. Watch with: TBD.

"Mr Selfridge"  Stars: Jeremy Piven Plot: PBS TV Show centers on the real-life story of the flamboyant and visionary American founder of Selfridge's (Piven), London's department store. Trailer Review: I love Selfridge's. I went when I toured in London. I'm interested to see how this store came about, and more anxious to see if Piven can actually act in a period series without seeming too modern. Rating: TBD. Watch with: TBD.

Promised Land Director: Gus Van Sant Stars: Matt Damon, Frances McDormand, John Krasinski, Hal Holbrook Plot: A salesman (Damon) for a natural gas company experiences life-changing events after arriving in a small town, where his corporation wants to tap into the available resources.   Trailer Review: I always like Damon, and even though this film seems like an anti-oil propaganda film, I'm still interested in seeing it because I care about the environment, & I have seen problems with oil companies (hello BP oil spill). I will, however, fact check some stuff after the film is over. Rating: TBD. Watch with: TBD.

Pawn Stars: Ray LiottaNikki ReedForest Whitaker Plot: A petty robbery spirals into a tense hostage situation after three gunmen hold up a diner that's a front for the mob. Trailer  Review: This could either be a tense thriller or a complete mess. Great cast though. Rating: TBD. Watch with: TBD.

Any Day Now Starring: Alan Cumming  Plot: In the 1970s, a gay couple (Cumming) fights a biased legal system to keep custody of the abandoned mentally handicapped teenager that comes to live under their roof. Trailer Review: Apparently based on a true story, this looks like a well-acted, inspirational story that's gonna start some discussions & press some buttons. Ahh what good films are made of. Rating: TBD. Watch with: TBD.

Family Weekend Stars: Kristin ChenowethMatthew ModineOlesya Rulin  Plot: A 16-year-old girl (Rulin) takes her parents (Chenoweth & Modine) hostage after they miss her big jump-roping competition. Trailer Review: Reminiscent of House Arrest, I like the idea of teenagers letting their parents know they've screwed up in a non-homicidal kind of way, though I know kidnapping is wrong, but anyways. Rating: TBD. Watch with: TBD.

Flirt Stars: Parker PoseyRobert John BurkeMartin Donovan. Plot: The same situation is played out in different cities (New York, Berlin and Japan). A lover has to choose whether to commit to a partner who is returning home. In each case there are other people involved  Trailer Review: Originally released in 1995, this is finally on DVD & seems like an interesting story line though it may end up being really depressing. Rating: TBD. Watch with: TBD.
