The Road

Plot: Based on the Cormac McCarthy novel. A post-apocalyptic tale of a man and his son trying to survive by any means possible.

Starring: Oscar Nominee Viggo Mortensen (Eastern Promises), Oscar Winner Robert Duvall (Tender Mercies), Academy of Science Fiction,, Fantasy & Horror Films Award Nominee Guy Pearce (Memento), Indie Spirit Award Nominee Molly Parker (The Center of the World), Michael K. Williams ("Boardwalk Empire" ), Garret Dillahunt (One Night Only), Oscar Winner Charlize Theron (Monster).

Review: This movie is more about a father & son relationship than it is about survival. If you know that from the beginning, then you might enjoy it. However, if you saw the trailer and became intrigued then you will be disappointed. I was expecting more. The trailer was so deceptive. It's just a boy and his dad walking around the entire movie. All the supposed exciting moments that seemed to appear in the trailer were only implied. There is no explanation of what causes the apocalypse. It's like there were two movies, the one the trailer implied about a group of bad guys after a family who's trying to survive and the actual movie. The mother is only in dreams and flashbacks. The bad guys are barely a blip in the film. They must've torn this novel to shreds because there really is no plot to speak of. And the boy was soo irritating. I kept hoping he would die the entire movie. He was such a whiny little girl. I was looking so forward to this film too.
