Pitch Perfect 2012 Comedy Starring: Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Rebel Wilson, Elizabeth Banks, John Michael Higgins, John Benjamin Hickey, Donald Faison & Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Written by Kay Cannon based on the novel by Mickey Rapkin. Directed by: Jason Moore Trailer Plot: Beca, a freshman at Barden University, is cajoled into joining The Bellas, her school's all-girls singing group. Injecting some much needed energy into their repertoire, The Bellas take on their male rivals in a campus competition. Review: Haven't seen this yet, but I love music movies and have been a fan of Kendrick since I first saw her in Camp. I really hope the music sequences aren't cheesy. Rating: TBD. Watch with: TBD.
Total Recall 2012 scifi film Starring: Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston, Bokeem Woodbine, Bill Nighy, John Cho & Ethan Hawke. Directed by: Len Wiseman. Written by: Kurt Wimmer & Mark Bomback inspired by the short story "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale" by Philip K. Dick. Trailer Plot: A factory worker, Douglas Quaid, begins to suspect that he is a spy after visiting Rekall - a company that provides its clients with implanted fake memories of a life they would like to have led - goes wrong and he finds himself on the run. Review: I've been the original and liked it. I'm keeping an open mind. I don't mind them remaking this one because Schwarzenegger wasn't good in the original. We'll see. My husband has seen it and loved it, also having seen the original. Rating: TBD. Watch with: TBD.
Trouble with the Curve Watch my video review
Sleepwalk with Me 2012 Comedy Starring: Lauren Ambrose, Lucy DeVito, Carol Kane & James Rebhorn. Directed by: Mike Birbiglia & Seth Barrish. Written by: the directors, Joe Birbiglia &
Ira Glass Trailer Plot: A burgeoning stand-up comedian struggles with the stress of a stalled career, a stale relationship, and the wild spurts of severe sleepwalking he is desperate to ignore. Review: This seems like a funny movie that I'm mostly interested in because it's about stand up comedy. Rating: TBD. Watch with: TBD.
Killer Joe 2011 Indie Spirit Award nominated Crime Drama Starring: Matthew McConaughey, Emile Hirsch, Thomas Haden Church & Gina Gershon. Directed by: William Friedkin. Written by: Tracy Letts based on his play. Trailer Plot: When a debt puts a young man's life in danger, he turns to putting a hit out on his evil mother in order to collect the insurance. Review: Very curious to see this film. I've heard McConaughey is amazing in this, earning him an Indie Spirit nod. Rating: TBD. Watch with: TBD.
Premium Rush 2012 Action film Starring: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Aasif Mandvi, Michael Shannon, Aaron Tveit & Jamie Chung. Directed by: David Koepp. Written by: the director & John Kamps. Shameless S2 Showtime Comedy Series Starring: Emmy Rossum, William H. Macy & Steve Howey. Guest Starring: Joan Cusack, Marguerite Moreau, Amy Smart, Justin Chatwin, Noel Fisher, Chloe Webb & Jenna Elfman. Created by: Paul Abbott. Promo Plot: Patriarch Frank Gallagher and his loud and nutty family argue their way through a second season of this uproarious sitcom. Alcoholism, thievery and deviance all come family style in this American remake of the award-winning British series. Review: Not yet done watching S2 but am enjoying it so far. I'd like to see these characters evolve more, however. Rating: TBD. Watch with: TBD.
10 Years 2011 Dramedy Starring: Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Justin Long, Max Minghella, Oscar Isaac, Chris Pratt, Ari Graynor, Scott Porter, Brian Geraghty, Aubrey Plaza, Kate Mara, Lynn Collins, Anthony Mackie, Rosario Dawson & Ron Livingston. Written & Directed by: Jamie Linden. Trailer Plot: The night before their high school reunion, a group of friends realize they still haven't quite grown up in some ways. Review: Great cast. Given that it's very close to my 10 year HS reunion, 5 months actually, I'm curious in living vicariously through these characters until I decide whether or not I'm actually going to attend mine. Rating: TBD. Watch with: TBD.
